Aimee + Sean | 05.16.15

I knew when I met Aimee and Sean for their engagement session last year that their wedding was going to be an amazing day. They compliment each other so well AND have amazing style! Their wedding did not disappoint and literally every detail was covered.

The Atrium was a gorgeous backdrop for both the ceremony and reception. I love when the venue can act as host for all of your events so that you can spend more time with your guests and less time traveling. Even larger bonus is that they have a beautiful yard for formal photos. See, win, win and win!

Aimee you were a beautiful bride and Sean you were a dapper groom. We had an amazing time with you two. Thank you to you and your family and friends for treating us like old friends. We wish you many, many happy years together! Hope you are enjoying your honeymoon!!

Brittany + Mike | 05.09.15 | The Priory

We literally could not have asked for a more beautiful day for this gorgeous wedding, (though a cool breeze would have been nice!) Brittany and Mike started their day getting ready at the Inn at the Priory which is such a beautiful setting for photos. They then traveled to St. Stanislaus Kotska Parish in the Strip District for their ceremony! Guests were even surprised as flower petals rained from the church’s ceiling during the recessional. Trust me, no detail was left out!

We did bridal party portraits under the overhang of the Pittsburgh Convention Center and then headed to Commons Park in the Northside before returning to the gardens of the Priory. The light was incredible and I absolutely could have shot portraits all day!

The reception was beautiful and the dance floor was packed. It was an amazing day for all! Many congrats to Brittany & Mike and many, many years of happiness to come!

Seriously had the most amazing day for the first wedding of our 2015 season! It was a beautiful day, we had the most FANTASTIC lighting for portraits after dinner and I got to work with the FABULOUS Kristy Lumsden of Kristy Lumsden Photography! I loved the colorful altar of their church and the lush green backdrop of the country club for photos! Such a fun day!

Urban Sophisticated Winter Styled Shoot | Carnegie Science Center

Urban Sophisticated Winter Styled Shoot | Carnegie Science Center

I have been sooo excited to share this shoot with you, but I was waiting until it was revealed by the amazing blog The Perfect Palette which featured the session at the beginning of this week! So many amazing people came together to make this shoot what it was! I could not be more impressed by the talent of each and every vendor that was involved.

Let’s face it, Pittsburgh is coooold in the winter and so many couples completely write off getting married November – April. As a group we knew that there are so many beautiful options for winter weddings and they should absolutely not be overlooked! When else can you snuggle in a plaid, wool blanket with your honey and a nice gooey, warm smore?

We also wanted to showcase an untraditional venue that offered a stunning urban view. When wedding planning I am sure that people gloss over the Carnegie Science Center when searching for that perfect spot, but the location, the amenities and the uniqueness are something to not be missed.
We knew that we wanted urban sophistication with an aspect of glamour. Gold and silver highlighted with rich red florals and scattered with a hint of a starry night theme were the perfect compliment to the blank slate that the science center offers. Can you imagine the wonder of your guests getting to view their own starry night in the planetarium as part of your scheduled events?

We knew that we wanted to bring in the gold to the dress and were thrilled to have BBG Couture design something one of a kind for us. The illusion neckline with gold lace brought all of the elegance of the event together and it was the perfect compliment to the lush florals.

Seriously, who wants to plan a winter wedding with this color scheme now?!

Make sure to check out all of these featured vendors!

Vendor Corner – Jae Lee Paredes | Is hiring a professional makeup artist really that important for your wedding?

Vendor Corner - Jae Lee Paredes | Is hiring a professional makeup artist really that important for your wedding?

As wedding season slows down a little, I thought I would take some time to ask some local wedding professionals some important questions about their role in your wedding day! Who doesn’t want to look beautiful on their wedding day? Its a day that we dream about from the time we were little girls. Sometimes we even play dress up and get into our mom’s makeup to play the part of a bride. I’m terrible at doing my own makeup, so it was a no brainer for me to hire a professional, but even if you are REALLY, REALLY good at doing your own, you may just want to set some money aside for a professional makeup artist anyways. Here are Jae Lee’s reasons in her own words!

All weddings have a budget and some brides decide not to hire makeup and hair professionals as they see it as an added expense. But please believe me when I say that hiring a professional makeup artist for your big day is more than worth the investment. If you are already spending $$$$ on your dress, shoes, veil, flowers, etc then you have already spent a good amount on the way that you are going to look on your big day. Finish it off and go that extra distance to put the whole look together.

Makeup for everyday, and makeup for photography are two very different things. Sure it may be a bit more than hiring “the girl at your hairdresser’s or the nearest makeup counter” but here are the reasons why hiring the professionals are a cut above the rest:

* A professional makeup artist works directly in the industry in fashion, beauty, film, television, print…the list goes on.

* Our training, schooling and skill goes above any youtube or instagram artist. We spend hundreds to thousands each year learning our craft at seminars, workshops and special classes to bring you the latest and greatest products and techniques.

* We have the know how to work with any skin tone, type, features, shape and even environment including humidity, hot, cold, etc.

* Our job is also to make each bride feel stress free, relaxed and comfortable while she is being pampered.

* Professional services are on site, on location luxury service.

* You have access to your professional through email and phone to discuss any details leading up to your wedding day.

* You have the option to do previews beforehand to perfect your look and make sure it fits in with the theme of the wedding (vintage, glamour, natural, etc.) and this gives you time to ask any questions you may have in person.

* Usually the artist on site is already familiar with your on location hair stylist, so they are able to work together to smoothly ensure the timeline doesn’t get off track.

In the end, the decision to hire a professional is completely up to you. There is an artist out there for everyone’s taste..just as there is the perfect lip shade for every woman. You have every detail planned perfectly..don’t settle for anything less for your wedding day beauty. Remember..this is the most photographed day of your life..there are no do overs.

They are off and exploring Greece and Paris, but I could hardly wait to share these until they get home! It was freeeezing in the Laurel Highlands, in fact while Alicia was getting ready it may have snowed for a couple of minutes! It absolutely did not stop them from getting outside to do their first look and it totally warmed up the rest of the day after that!

They were married outside on the porch of Falling Rock at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and the backdrop of colorful trees was breathtaking. It actually started to rain during the ceremony (which was covered luckily) and it was so tranquil.

The reception continued inside after the bridal party entered and started the night off with a group dance to Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off!” The dance floor did not clear the rest of the night!

We had an amazing time celebrating with you and your family and friends! Hope the internet connection is good on your travels! 😉
