Mingxin + Kyler – Pittsburgh, North Shore Engagement Session

Mingxin + Kyler - Pittsburgh, North Shore Engagement Session

Mingxin and Kyler’s engagement session on the North Shore was of epic proportions.  Not 20 minutes into the shoot the sky darkened and the sky was practically illuminated with consistent lightning.  I knew that we did not have long to take cover before the sky completely opened.  We snapped a couple more portraits with that pre-storm twilight and then decided to get indoors to wait out the storm.   And what a storm it was!  Horizontal rain, some hail and some very close lightning bolts made me very happy we had made it indoors in time!

After about an hour the storm finally slowed down enough to head back down the Riverwalk and across the Clemente Bridge to where we were parked.  The city lights were beginning to come on and we took this as an opportunity to get city backdrop photos from the top of our parking garage.  Standing at the highest point with the city lights and a couple of rumbles of thunder still in the background was an amazing moment, scroll down to see the outcome.

Oh and when a couple says, “borrow our boat for your photos”, you borrow the boat.  Thankful for Pittsburgh generosity!

Cannot wait for their October wedding at the Renaissance.  I have a feeling it will be just as epic!

Jennifer + Bobby – Kennywood Engagement

Jennifer + Bobby - Kennywood Engagement

Jennifer & Bobby were the lucky winners of my engagement session giveaway last month! They had the fantastic idea of meeting up at Kennywood Park for their session before the park gates opened. It was amazing to be able to go through the park and hop on to the rides without a wait. We even got some behind the scenes action and learned some secrets from our awesome tour guide!

It was a little chilly and pretty early for a Saturday morning, but they relaxed right into being in front of the camera and you can tell what a blast the two of them have together! Kennywood was an absolutely perfect backdrop for this fun pair and everything was so green and beautiful!

I had a great time taking these photos and I hope that they enjoy them as much as I do! I am kind of obsessed with that Thunderbolt and Racer photo!!!

Stephanie + Jonathan = True Romance Session

Stephanie + Jonathan = True Romance Session

Stephanie & Jonathan trusted me enough to book me for their special day without meeting me in person, so their engagement session was also our first time getting to know each other even better than through the emails we have been exchanging.  When first meeting them it is obvious what a beautiful couple the two of them are, but it does not take long to absolutely just be in awe of their inner beauty and the beauty of the love that they have for one another.

Stephanie’s dream was to have snow for her engagement photos, but with this unpredictable winter and my schedule, we had to put something on the calendar not knowing what cards the weather would be dealing that day.  We planned to meet at Hartwood Acres so that we could utilize indoors as well as outdoors in the chance that we were just going to have a dreary, snow-less, winter background (not that I don’t love working those days either!)  As I headed out that day I drove through an incredible snow squall and I thought for sure that Stephanie was going to get her wish, but upon arriving at Hartwood was greeted with blue skies and not a flake of snow in the air.  Just as we were ready to start shooting in the mansion I noticed a couple of snowflakes outdoors and suggested that we grab a couple of shots just in case it came and went as quick as the last storm.  Boy was I wrong!!  We were able to create some intimate portraits in the Grand Hall and staircases indoors where it was nice and toasty before we stepped out in what soon became a full out blizzard!

Hartwood Acres is beautiful anytime of year for photo sessions, but add a couple so much in love and some huge snowflakes and the place is magical.  We grabbed some photos around the mansion before heading down to the barn since both Stephanie and Jonathan have a love for horses.  They were so natural together and didn’t need direction to enjoy each other!  They were so fun to shoot and I am thrilled with the results from our winter wonderland session.  Cannot wait to see what these two bring to their May wedding.  I know the day will be full of love and I am so thrilled to be a part of it!

And of course…a slideshow!
